Football: Bomber kills Somali sports chiefs

Olympic Committee President Aden Yabarow Wiish and Somali Football Federation Chief Said Mohamed Nur were killed.

A woman strapped with explosives blew herself up during an address by Somalia’s prime minister, killing four people, including the country’s Olympic and football bosses.


She detonated her belt as the prime minister was addressing 200 people gathered to mark the first anniversary of the  satellite TV network.

The Somali Olympic Committee President Aden Yabarow Wiish and Somali Football Federation Chief Said Mohamed Nur were also killed in the blast.

Fifa President Sepp Blatter expressed shock at the death of the two Somali sports chiefs. “I knew both men personally and can say good things about their endless efforts to promote sport and football in their country,” said Blatter.
