RAHIM YAR KHAN:

Iqra, 17, who had run away from her marriage from Multan a week ago, reportedly jumped off a moving car on Tuesday and died from the injuries.

Iqra, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan had been married in Multan last year, was living with her former neighbour and paramour Umar. On Tuesday, Iqra jumped off Umar’s moving car in Rahim Yar Khan and fell into a canal, receiving serious injuries. Umar recovered her from the canal and took her to Shaikh Zayed Hospital. When doctors pronounced her dead, Umar fled the scene.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Iqra’s father Abbas Ahmed said, “She had told us that she was living with Umar now and condemned us for marrying her against her wish.”

He added, “We had been searching for her, when Umar called us on Monday to inform us that Iqra had jumped from his car and was in the hospital.”

“My daughter could not have attempted suicide. I believe Umar pushed her out of his car. It’s a murder, not suicide,” he said.

He added that he believed Umar’s friends, Ayaz and Sohail were also involved. Her brother Sheikh Muzzamil application  has lodged a complaint at Rahim Yar Khan B Division Police Station against Umar, Ayaz and Sohail. Investigation Officer Malik Amir said police were looking for the suspects.
