Earth Hour: Punjab Assembly, Nawaz Sharif switch off lights

The event supports a universal initiative for energy conservation.

Lights were switched off from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday at PML-N president Nawaz Sharif’s residence and the Punjab Assembly, among others, to mark the Earth Hour 2012.


The event is observed around the world on the last Saturday of March in support of a universal initiative for energy conservation.

According to a press release by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) – which promotes the event – many civil organisations, educational institutions and businesses went dark for an hour. These included the Forman Christian College University, several Beaconhouse school campuses, the American School of International Academics, The City School, Kinnaird College, the Lahore School of Economics, Coffee Tea and Company (CTC), the Subway outlet on MM Alam, Café Kap’s, Hardees, Cinnabon, Sukh Chan, Salt’n Pepper and Café Aylanto.

On Friday, the chief minister signed a declaration of support with Anwar Nasim of the WWF.

Further confirms which side PML N is. Carbon tax for the people and carbon credits for his foundries. What a sham.

Even the tree-huggers told us that we are exempt from this, We celebrate what 16 earth hours every day.
