Dengue prevention: Fumigation in rural areas

The first round of fumigation will be completed in 10 days.

In an attempt to prevent the spread of dengue virus, 14 teams headed by assistant commissioners and magistrates will start fumigation in rural area of Islamabad on Thursday (today).


The first round of fumigation will be completed in 10 days. During a meeting held here on Wednesday, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Amir Ali Ahmad reviewed the preventive measures against the virus and informed that a surveillance cell has started working in the DHO’s office.

He said the administration has also directed staff members of municipal council to carry out cleanliness drives and ensure removal of garbage dumps. So far 90 cattle dens have been shifted from residential areas to other places, he added.

DHO Dr Muhammad Azhar said fumigation in Bhara Kahu had been completed and the teams are now ready to fumigate rural areas.
