KARACHI/SUKKUR: In a historic show of unity, lawyers across Sindh and in parts of Punjab boycotted court on Monday to protest the double homicide of a former bar member, Salahuddin Jaffery and his son Ali Raza Jaffery. Members of the Malir Bar Association blocked the National Highway for over half an hour and demanded the removal of Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan for failing to protect lawyers. The Malir District Court was deserted and later, a general body meeting was attended by the district and sessions judge. The lawyers decided that they would keep the Malir District Courts closed for the week. No case went ahead either at the Sindh High Court. The bar association demanded compensation of Rs5 million per victim for the families
The Rangers and police submitted a report to SHC’s Justice Maqbool Baqar in Islamabad where he is part of the Memogate Commission.
