Upgrades: LUMHS lab gets blood bank

The blood bank will be the first in Hyderabad to be able to perform plasma paresis.

HYDERABAD: The vice chancellor of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, inaugurated a blood bank at the university’s Diagnostic and Research Laboratory on Monday. The latest facility will be able to provide blood, packed red cells, fresh frozen plasma and small and mega platelet units. All the blood products will be screened for hepatitis-B, hepatitis C, syphilis and malaria. The blood bank will be the first in Hyderabad to be able to perform plasma paresis, a test for which residents had to go to Karachi earlier on.
