KARACHI:

With reference to a story published in The Express Tribune on March 15 “Constructive Advice: Punjab asks industrialists to become farmers”, the name of the vice chairman of the Punjab Board of Investment is Miftah Ismail and not Mufti Ismail. The error is regretted.

With reference to the same news item the spokesperson of the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), in a statement issued here today, denies that the vice chairman asked industrialists to become farmers and that the vice chairman was misquoted.

The PBIT statement further said the purpose of the conference was to understand the issues and difficulties that the business community faces and identify areas where the provincial government can facilitate the industry. The meeting also discussed the opportunities of business diversification and expansion. The seminar was specifically about agriculture and livestock based industry. PBIT invited the business community of Faisalabad to grow and diversify in this industry.
