Asia Cup: Pakistan beats Sri Lanka by six wickets

DHAKA: Pakistan won its match against Sri Lanka on Thursday, making it the team's second victory in the Asia Cup after beating Bangladesh on March 11.

Captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Akmal saw Pakistan through after openers Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed faltered for 11 and 18 runs, respectively.

Chasing 189, the skipper scored 72 (93 balls) while Akmal scored 77 (72 balls). Sri Lanka's RAS Lakmal was the pick of the bowlers, taking two wickets.

Earlier Sri Lanka were bowled out for 188 after electing to bat against Pakistan.

Kumar Sangakkara (71) and Upul Tharanga (57) hit half-centuries for Sri Lanka, while paceman Aizaz Cheema took four wickets and off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took three for Pakistan in the day-night match.
