Askari III Tragedy: Family murder case to be sent to ATC

The investigating officer for the murder of five members of a family at Askari III will be submitting the list of charges to an anti-terrorism court within a week.


The five bodies were found inside the residence located near Cantt Station on February 29. The victims, identified as Arif Yousuf, 68, his wife Zainab, 60, his son Zubair, 38, daughter-in-law Aliya and granddaughter Rida, 14, were stabbed.

The accused, Mohammad Ishaq, was the family’s former driver. The crime branch police tracked him after monitoring calls on the victims’ cell phones, which went missing after the incident. He was arrested in a raid near Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Crime branch SSP Farooq Awan told The Express Tribune that there are three different developments in the case. He said that the family has identified the things found in possession of the accused and their statements have been recorded. Awan said that Ishaq had also confessed to the crime.
