The chief minister of Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah, updated the media on the efforts made by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to improve the country. He was speaking in Mirpur Mathelo after attending his personal secretary Ali Nawaz Chachar’s wedding.

According to Shah, during its four year tenure, the PPP had recruited 19,000 schoolteachers on merit and regularised the services of thousands of teachers who were appointed on contract by the former governments. According to Shah, under the Benazir Income Support Programme, at least 700,000 women were being given Rs1,000 per month. While talking about the law and order situation, he said that nearly 15,000 police constables and 900 lady constables have been recruited for its improvement.

The chief minister warned that if the industrial units fail to provide jobs to people, then action would be taken against them. He said that the PPP government has prioritised the education sector by establishing schools and colleges in the province, while mentioning a cadet college in Ghotki which was completed at an estimated cost of Rs40 million.
