Recreation: Horse and cattle show to kick off on March 14

Events will include horses dancing, livestock show, tent pegging.

FAISALABAD:

A six-day annual horse and cattle show and a sports festival will start at Mela Mandi Ground on Sammundri Road coming Wednesday (March 14). The event is being organised by the Iqbal Town municipal authority. This was announced by the district coordination officer, Naseem Sadiq, after a meeting held to review arrangements for the event.

The DCO said the horse and cattle show would continue for six days and conclude on March 19. He said the festival would include a horse dance competition, a livestock show, a tent pegging competition, a kabaddi match and a dog and a bull cart race.

DCO Sadiq directed officials concerned to ensure all arrangements were in place before the event started on Wednesday. He said the festival was part of the administration’s efforts to arrange events where families could come for recreational purposes.

He said similar events would be held in the coming days as well.

He said the events lined up for the future included folk music festivals. He also monitored security and traffic management arrangements for the festival.
