LAHORE: Former president Supreme Court Bar Association and human rights activist Asma Jehangir has expressed concern over the lawyers attack on a civil court judge here in Lahore on Wednesday.

In a statement released by Jehangir, it was stated that majority of the lawyers’ community had expressed sorrow over the incident.

As per details, some angry lawyers had forced civil judge Saif Ullah into his courtroom, and locked it behind them. They thrashed him and used abusive language.

Condemning the attack, Jehangir said only a few lawyers were involved in the act. Exemplifying the lawyer’s movement for the restoration of the judiciary, she said that the lawyers’ community had always worked to uphold the rule of law and maintain the democratic system.

She stressed it was essential to prevent any such incidents from happening in the future.

It only takes one/few to set a bad example for others to follow.

Well done Ms.Asma Jehangir.Your sane voice should save the image
of Pakistani lawyers damaged by many who showered rose on the
cold blooded murder guard of Salman Taseer. There is no news about
the abducted son of the assassinated Governor of Punjab.Pakistan
indeed needs rule of law accepted universally not concocted in
Pakistan under mullah pressure or the military pressure.
