“Carelessness in making arrangement to counter dengue will not be tolerated,” Sahibzada Shehryar Sultan, the local government director general, said on Wednesday.
He was talking to some district administration officers while inspecting the spray and fogging machines at the office of the district coordination officer. The machines are being used by the tehsil municipal administration, the Faisalabad Development Authority, the Punjab Horticulture Authority and the Health Department.
He directed the officers to implement the arrangements effectively to avoid possible attack of the dengue virus. He directed the officials to keep a check on the machines and see that they are operational.
Later, while talking to The Express Tribune, the director general said that a detailed report has been compiled on the condition of spray and fogging machines. He said the report will be helpful for the anti-dengue campaign.
“We are mobilising anti-dengue measures across the province,” he said.
He said that a counter inspection was also being carried out to make sure that the campaign was more effective.
He appreciated the anti dengue arrangements implemented by the district administration in Faisalabad. He also lauded the district administration’s step of distributing posters, pamphlets and information CDs to sensitise masses and spread awareness in this regard.
Earlier, District Coordination Officer Naseem Sadiq also addressed the officials.HE informed the DG that the union councils in city had been divided into 32 sections. City government officials have been made in charge of these sections, he said. They will not only guide the people but also act as a liaison between the people and the authorities concerned. He said that 800,000 survey forms had been distributed among the students of 2,400 schools in Faisalabad to compile information on general awareness and measures taken at households to counter dengue.
