KARACHI: Dr Safdar Sarki, the president of the Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST), was detained by Rangers from Gulistan-e-Jauhar Monday. He was taken to an undisclosed location. The party’s Karachi East president Agha Shah Zaman was also detained. The party’s vice-president Habib Jatoi said that a wheel jam strike would be observed across the province on Tuesday (today). In protest of their leader’s arrest, JST workers opened fire in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Pahlwan Goth, Sachal Goth, Ibrahim Hiadri and Chakra Goth. The protest spread throughout the province as markets in Thatta, Dadu and Sukkur were also shut down. Rangers claim that Sarki was detained during a snap check but was released later.
