Healthcare: CM reviews medical facilities at SZH

CM reviews medical facilities, academic activities, financial and administrative affairs of hospital.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was briefed by the head of Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Dr Zafar Iqbal, on Saturday and then set up a committee to review the hospital’s affairs, said a press release.


The committee, headed by Senator Ishaq Dar, will make recommendations concerning issues that arose from the recent transfer of the hospital from federal to provincial government control.

The chief minister presided over a meeting on Saturday that looked at the medical facilities, academic activities and the financial and administrative affairs of the hospital.

Addressing the meeting and reporters, the chief minister said that the hospital had recently started liver transplants and the Punjab government was offering financial assistance for poor patients undergoing the procedure. The chief minister also visited the intensive care unit and liver transplant unit of the hospital. Senator Dar, CM’s Special Assistant on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq, MPA Dr Asad Ashraf, the Planning and Development Board chairman also attended the meeting.
