KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association’s (PBSA) plan of hosting a six-nation event next month was put in jeopardy after a visa delay and non-issuance of NOCs marred preparations for the event.

The Indian duo Yasin Merchant and Mohammad Faisal Khan are facing problems in submitting their passports to the Pakistan embassy in New Delhi, where authorities have asked for NOCs from their Islamabad counterparts.

The two players are expected to travel on March 1 and PBSA President Alamgir Sheikh has requested the interior ministry to grant the NOCs.

“I plead to our interior ministry to give consideration to this issue and quickly release the NOCs to the Indians,” Sheikh told The Express Tribune. “We’re trying to stage an international event and have made all the arrangements. Now the fate of the event is in the hands of the ministry.”

The snooker championship starts on March 4.
