Dengue workshop: EDOs told to focus on killing mosquitoes

A one-day training workshop for EDOs (health), and officials from dengue control cells of 11 districts.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed the Health Department and executive district officers (EDOs) to pay special attention to surveillance of mosquito larvae and insecticide spray ahead of dengue season.


He was addressing a one-day training workshop for EDOs (health), and officials from dengue control cells of 11 districts on Tuesday. The participants of the workshop were informed about the dengue situation in Punjab, especially in Lahore, and of the symptoms of the disease. Data entry operators were trained in dengue surveillance, vector surveillance and methods of data entry.

Newly appointed Health Director General Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema said that the Health Department’s officers would do their best to prevent a dengue epidemic this year. CM’s Secretariat Dengue Research Cell head and other EDOs attended the workshop.
