KARACHI: Commenting on the controversial Balochistan resolution presented in the US House of Representatives, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday said that the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government had been empowering Balochistan since coming into power.

“This [US resolution on separation of Balochistan] is the propaganda of enemies who have been plotting the program,” he said, while adding that the people should analyse the situation of Balochistan at the time when the government came into power and compare it with what it is now.

“From initiating the Aghaz-e Huqooq Balochistan to giving them funds, we have empowered them in all fields,” Malik told the media.

Last week, US Congressman Dana Rohrabacher introduced a resolution in the US House of Representatives calling upon Pakistan to recognise the Baloch right to self determination. The motion, which has been co-sponsored by House Representatives Louie Gohmert and Steve King, highlights Balochistan’s troubled past with the centre after the creation of Pakistan.

Pakistan has responded strongly to the resolution and said that the US has no right to interfere in Pakistan’s internal problems.

Baloch so called freedom fighters claimed lives of so many laborers and innocent teachers and doctors for liberation??? This is a two way traffic, if Army is bad in handling the situation, Baloch fighters did equally wrong by killing innocent people and stopping all development work being done in the province. All peaceful Balochis are afraid of raising voice in favor of Pakistan because there is a big threat factor by so called freedom fighters who are more criminal and uncontrollable.

Both bad sardars and corrupt fighters are contributing to further miseries of Balochi brothers, topped with US dollar game. Wrong and criminal practices are not legal in fight for just rights. We all know that all parties should come to constructive dialog.

Otherwise, Pakistan should separate peaceful Balochis and offer them whatever they want, and engage with criminals to eliminate them like Sri Lanka did with Tamil tigers.

If he did even 1% of job what he has talked about in the last 4 years, Pakistan would NOT be where it is today. Too many ‘statements’ and no action characterises this govt.

Insurrection in Balochistan is funded by foreign countries killing innocent people. The Pak army needs to spread itself all over Balochistan to stop the terrorist network and not wait for the insecure government’s delay in thinking and acting.
