KARACHI:

The leaders of the banned Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) were nominated in yet another case, while law enforcement agencies arrested three men from the rival Kutchi Rabita Committee in Lyari.

Uzair Baloch, Zafar Baloch, Zubair Baloch and three other PAC men were nominated in FIR no. 31/12 under section 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act and sections 324 and 427/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code registered at the Kalri police station. The case was filed on behalf of Siddiq Shah, the brother of Kutchi Rabita Committee leader Karim Shah. Last year, Zubair Baloch had filed a complaint against men from the Kutchi Rabita Committee for the dual murders of PAC’s Alok Gawadari and Jaffer Baloch.

According to a statement recorded at the police station, Siddiq said that the PAC men wanted to kill his brother Karim. He claimed that they had kidnapped and killed Karim’s neighbour Ali Mohammad Kutchi and had fired three rockets near Karim’s house while they were protesting against Ali Mohammad’s murder on Mauripur Road. At least three people were injured and a shop was partially damaged in the rocket attack.

On Thursday Ali Mohammad’s father registered FIRs no. 29/12 and 30/12 under section 302, 364 and 109 against the PAC leaders for abducting and killing his son.

According to Zafar Baloch, the KRC was plotting a conspiracy against them by nominating PAC leaders in fake cases. He said that the PAC men were not involved in any criminal activity.

Busted

After Ali Mohammad’s murder, Lyari became a battleground as the rivals kept attacking each other – at least three rockets were launched at Agra Taj Colony, a KRC-dominated area. A heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies was deployed in the area to bring the situation under control.

So far, three men identified as Ashiq, Adam Kutchi and Urs Chandio from the KRC were arrested. The police claim that they were caught in a raid carried out by the Crime Investigation Department at Ghausia Road, Kalri. According to KRC’s Daud Kutchi, he had no information about any arrests and said that the KRC was fighting crime.
