KARACHI: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani asserted on Saturday that Pakistan will make the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, while speaking to the media in Karachi.
Pakistan is currently facing mounting pressure from the US to shelve the Iran pipeline project, while Pakistan and Iran have already signed a sovereign-guarantee agreement on the project.
The prime minister said that a rise in oil prices in Pakistan was due to a rise in the international prices and the global recession, and gave his assurance that the Speaker had formed a committee on the issue and will hold talks with the finance minister.
Premier Gilani also commented on the US Congressman’s resolution in the House on the Balochistan issue, and said that it was against the sovereignty of the country. “We strongly condemn the US Congressman’s move,” he said.
In view of the on-going trilateral meeting between Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan, Gilani said that it was “extremely important” for the stability of the region that all the neighbouring countries were in a good relationship with each other.
“We want to have good relations with all our neighbours, be it China, Afghanistan, Iran or India,” he added.

I agree with you, 90,000 American soldiers surrendered to Taliban fighters. Jokes apart. Americans have killed most Taliban/ alqaeda leaders. Ruled Afghanistan for 10 years and control the streets while Taliban wait in the caves waiting for the americans to go so that they can go out and kill some unarmed people. Only Pakistani's can say the taliban 'won'.

@mind control - It should not come as a surprise when some countries would like to be a part of this and offer financial help as this may turn out to be a gold pot for all those who want to be a part of this.
In the long run, it would be in the best interest of USA to be good trusted friends with Pakistan as someday they may need Pakistan more than any other country in the world and some day Pakistan may be an oil, mineral rich and technology rich country as Pakistanis are also intelligent and ambitious people. No country has been put through so much trial and severe hardship as Pak public has and inspite of all the crisis they do have a strong courage and spirit to move forward constructively.

US has 40,000 F-16s, leave aside the number of other aircrafts like F-22, F-117A and warships. Only one small component can destroy whole Iran and only 2 spy planes can fire continued drones to make this pipeline a failure. Don't live in fool's paradise , ask Iran to be with the world in oil supply.

We removed one tyrant only to be harnessed by a tyrannical party. Whether you have a sovereign agreement or not, the USA will apply every form of trick, conspiracy, intrigue, perfidy and chicanery to get Pakistan and Iran to fight and abandon the pipeline.
From 1965, the USA has been stabbing us in the back and getting away with it. The time has come for serious introspection and action and NOT making meaningless remarks, wearing flashy clothes, seizing property and letting corruption burgeon.

The pipeline from the massive Iranian Asouleh Gas field to the 900 km to Iran shahr right on the Iran Pakistan border is already complete.
Pakistan just has to link to that battery limit, and the decision to have a 700 km's to Hub on Sindh Baloch border before it enters Karachi has already been made.
Preliminary Civil's and Earthworks have just started for trenching the line.
This pipeline is our vital national interest and will be completed, unless foreign powers literally bomb it, and start a war with Pakistan.

once aid is cut off..pakis will agree to whatever US wants...all this grandstanding...reminds of talks of shooting down drones, soverignity,no supply to nato...what happened..to all of that..drones continue, paki airspace is used to send supplies, no one cares for your soverignity...so just be prepared to talk about pipeline once aid stops...

Pakistan has a handsome and nattily-dressed Prime Minister who wears expensive foreign-made suits that the 99% of the people of Pakistan cannot even think of being able to purchase. He should set an example of simplicity. Look at Advani or the Indian PM and see how simply they dress, without ostentation.
You need to become a role model and dress like the awam. Plain white shirt and shalwar would make you look dignified.
In Denmark, municipal garbage is burned in WTE (waste-to-energy) plants to meet energy needs. This has dual benefits: keeps the landfills empty and creates energy. Other countries, such as Nepal and India, are exploiting gobar to create gobar gas. There is zero initiative in this regard in Pakistan despite Pakistan being a manure-rich agricultural country.
Pakistan needs to capitalize on its strength and rationalize gas usage. Alternatives such as gobar gas, WTE, solar, geothermal need to be exploited. They are cheap and low tech and do not require external financiers.

These pipelines are SO valuable that regional powers would be willing to pay for the entire infrastructure.
All Pakistan has to do is provided a permanent security apparatus around the pipeline, I guarantee you other powers will finance the entire project be it Russia, China, Iran.
Iran would do it because it needs to ward off US. Russian would do it just to keep america out. China would do it to make it an IPC pipeline.

Yes Pakistan should have the pipeline. America economically is going downhill due to financial mismanagement and other things. Every country has their own interests and it is in Pakistan's interest as it needs energy. Also it is imperative Pakistan has good relationship with its neightbours. Western powers always want to bully so called third world countries where they can in the past. The world is changing rapidly. It is IMPERATIVE PAKISTAN HAS GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR NEIGHBOURS!
I am sure between PAK new group of friends - Iran and Russia - funding can be found to build this. This funding will come at a huge price for PAK. It will be more than just a dollar cost. Once built this pipeline will have to be protected. Protected from those who already cause PAK to be a lawless and dangerious nation.

The US is not our friend and only has its own selfish interests in mind. We should keep our interests in mind and go ahead and do business with Iran regardless of what America says or does. We've been making the mistake of not maintaining better relations with our immediate neighbor because of a bully thousands of kilometers away and one extremely selfish and hypocritical "brother nation"....they wouldn't do the same for us and we shouldn't do it for them.
