Carnival: Enlightenment on nature through entertainment

Students perform skits to highlight some of the environmental issues at a carnival organised by WWF Wetlands.

Thousands of schoolchildren from the twin cities attended the closing ceremony of World Wide Fund (WWF) Wetlands carnival held at Islamabad College for Girls on Wednesday. The event aimed to educate schoolchildren and their families on environment through entertainment.


This year, the themes of competition were related to wetlands tourism titled “A Great Experience.” Nearly 4,000 students from over 20 schools participated in creating these three-dimensional environmental displays and the winners were awarded prizes at the end of the carnival.

The chief guest of this carnival was Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) secretary Imtiaz Inayat Elahi.

Roots School System head Anjum Azhar told PPI said that WWF Wetlands provided a mix of educational, entertaining and promotional activities aimed at building capacity of individuals to take care of their environment in a better way.
