ABU DHABI: Paceman Steven Finn took a career-best 4-34 and Alastair Cook hit his highest score to help England beat Pakistan in a fortune-turning 130-run win in the first day-night international here on Monday.
Finn destroyed Pakistan’s batting with four early wickets off 29 balls to dismiss them for 130 in 35 overs. after Cook’s 137 helped his team to 260-7. The win gives England a 1-0 win in the four-match series after a disastrous Test series. Pakistan looked all at sea against Finn, who used helpful windy conditions to move the ball.
Earlier Cook, whose previous best of 119 came against Sri Lanka at Lord’s last year, hit 14 boundaries during a fluent 142-ball innings and shaped well against Pakistan’s spin-dominated attack. Cook added an invaluable 131 runs for the third wicket with Ravi Bopara (50) to revive England after they lost two early wickets.
The second match will be played here on Wednesday.

England collapsed 4 times out of 6 in test series…nobody said they were fixing….
but after today’s performance same voices will be raised by skeptical Pakistanis……how pathetic….be patient…this is just a game…u win some you lose some…..simple

The entire test and ODI series is fixed. the ICC need to investigate

Shoaib Malik flop again and useless at present. He is unable to justify his presence so far. Let the top performer of Domestic Faisal Iqbal or Fawad Alam take his place. Let the merit win.

@Misbah:
lol how do u say that?

Welcome Shoaib Malik and Welcome pre world-cup Pakistan team again. Now get ready for more such humiliating defeats.

just read the comments given by @misbah and you will understand what i meant in my earlier comments….!!!! LOLRecommend
Its all about batting first on these grounds. Pakistan always let me say yes always, struggles to chase any total and they are completely different team when they bat first and even can defend ordinary totals. I dont know what but our team has batting second syndrome issues. For now, they should drop Malik for another all rounder Hammad plus Rehman in place of Wahab Raiz. I hope Umer Akmal gets fit for the second 0DIs and able to keep the wickets.

Err..131 or 130…make up your mind Tribune!

Come on Team Green you can still do it…
I don’t know about some guys up there but I don’t give up until last ball, whatever the case is. INSHALLAH we can do much better in coming matches.
What I want our team to do is not to play defensively. Just attack, attack and attack.

That seems like a horrible dream after green wash

All you Indians, kindly stop smiling..
this little defeat cannot be compared to the humiliating defeats you guys already have in your pockets.. so pray for your win in the current series rather then wasting your energy over there.. you know we are a better team !!
The whitewash was sufficiant enough to prove to the indians how test cricket is played !!! forget the one days.. we dont care anymore !!!

As I have make lot of comments about Imran Farhat.. We also lacks application of talented players in Team. As team is mostly selected on political influences lot of young player had sacrificed to this attitude. As we have seen two good openers who are selected in previous years have been doing good in BPL Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad. Dont know what are selectors and management doing.. As management has also been grim by the same old players and person who will have not changed till their deaths.. Why is Aizaz cheema and Adnan Akmal in T20s at the first place. We have lot of good pacers in domestic why isnt Talha selected again he should be recover in this time??? . T20s squad should be selected after the ODIs have finished.. So the domestic performers get a chance.. No young player will be given a chance till Shoaib Malik and Imran Farhat are in the team.

@fizz:
I must confess, I was actually laughing at Pak mentality.
It’s admirable Pak won a test series after so many off the field set backs. But, it’s really funny to see so many Pak fans feeling like a nation of invincible supermen!
I mean…three test wins and you guys go nuts!!
Probably that’s the reason why Pak as a nation is so prone to manipulation.

Every nation have its right to show emotions..some things are emotional..may be you are alien to this world and keep bringing political topics in sports pages..
Recommend
@Yuri Kondratyuk:
You either have a emotional quotient of zero or you are just posting that to make Pakistanis angry. No nation on earth would not shout in happiness after winning a series against a top team after so many setbacks in so many spheres of life.

@Pakistani Agnostic:
Well, in India I didn’t see a similar mad euphoria after world cup win. We cheered but, we knew very well that the team would mess up before long, given it’s weaknesses.
At least for us, victory is great but, we are more happy when we see our team putting in a 100% effort.
