Before the Supreme Court

Published: February 4, 2012

PIMS, ISLAMABAD: It is worth remembering that it was the opposition PML-N (when it had its own government at the centre) whose activists physically attacked the Supreme Court. This happened in November 1997 and it seems to have been entirely forgotten.

May I also point out that the number of beneficiaries of the NRO is over 8,000! However, it seems that only one person, the president of Pakistan, is being singled out with regard to what was undoubtedly a flawed law. Furthermore, a plain reading of the relevant article of the Constitution will make it quite clear that the president of Pakistan enjoys immunity from all legal suits while he is in office. Take the example of France, where the courts have not taken any action against President Nicolas Sarkozy for his alleged involvement in the Agosta submarines scandal, allegedly done when he was not president.

Justice delayed is Justice denied. You cannot have two sets of Justice one for the poor common man & one for the Rich & Powerful. I have said it earlier that if a common man commits Contempt of Court he is immediately punished. Why is the Court so lenient to the PM who is the upholder of the Law. He should get the maximum punishment and without delay.
Its too late to again ask him to write to the Swiss Courts & let him get away.
It would be a Travesty of Justice.
