KARACHI: A brace by captain Rehan Butt was not enough to help Wapda avoid a stunning 3-2 loss  at Port Qasim’s hands in the National Hockey Championship, taking place in Karachi.

Port Qasim, sitting at ninth place in the 10-team event before the match, got an early lead from Ali Azlan’s third-minute goal. Butt equalised moments later and took his side in the lead with another strike in the 22nd minute.

However, Azlan scored his second via a penalty stroke five minutes later to restore parity before Owais Khan’s 64th-minute strike sealed the win.

As a result, Port Qasim moved up to sixth on the table, while Wapda, previously unbeaten, slipped down to third.

Meanwhile, foar goals from Arsalan Qadir powered NBP to a 5-0 win over PAF and Army beat PHF Academy 2-1.
