SUKKUR: The president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, is spending millions to buy seats for Pakistan Peoples Party candidates in the Senate, said Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed. “We should not expect free and fair general elections under this government as it is corrupt.” He added that the government had failed because it had not helped people overcome unemployment or decrease lawlessness. While speaking to the media at Thul Press Club on Thursday, Ahmed said that the recent price hike was the last straw. According to Ahmed, the government had contacted his party over the proposed 20th amendment but they had not made up their mind as yet. He said that as far as creating new provinces was concerned, the division should be made on the basis of administration not language.
