Dam-Affected People: Govt for timely resettlement: AJK PM

Government committed to complete resettlement process of affected by the construction of Mangla Dam raising project.

MIRPUR: The government is fully committed to completing the resettlement process of those affected by the construction of Mangla Dam raising project. This was said by Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Monday. At the same time, the prime minister directed Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), Public Works Department and Mangla Dam Resettlement Organisation to address the reservations expressed by the affected people. “The allocation of financial assistance by the Pakistan government proves that the government is taking keen interest in the development and progress of AJK,” said Majeed. He also requested Wapda to take all possible steps to provide maximum relief to the affected people in accordance with the agreements.
