LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Thursday granted post-arrest bail to a school teacher accused of involvement in an illegal organ transplant operation. Judge Husnain Qadir Ghillon set bail for Khurshid Ahmed at Rs100,000 after the investigation officer in the case reported that the accused had not known that his property was being used as an operating theatre for illegal kidney transplants. The investigation officer said in his report that Ahmed had leased the property at Street 6, Block-A, Al-Faisal Town, to a colleague named Abdul Haq. He said that Ahmed did not appear to be aware that Haq’s son Dr Imran was running a clinic on the property. Ahmed and at least seven others including two doctors are accused of running an illegal transplant ring. The FIR is registered at North Cantt police station.
