This week's T-Magazine focuses on the social stigmas of infertility, especially for men.

In today’s episode of the Tribune Take we look at ‘The empty cradle’ – T-Magazine’s cover story for this week.

Maria Waqar, associate sub-editor for T-magazine, discusses this week’s cover story which focuses on the social stigmas of infertility, especially for men.

Waqar says with the latest treatments available, the number one cause for concern is not the technology but changing perceptions. She says it is not only men who refuse to accept infertility as a possibility, but their wives also feed into this misconception.

Dear Maria, It is heartening to see someone talk in such a straight forward fashion about a topic often considered 'hush hush' in our society. Just the fact that we are discussing it in open forums, is in my view, a step ahead. We need to be clear about reasons behind infertility so that the lower to middle class families develop more acceptance towards it and do not begin to blame the woman unnecessarily. I have seen failed marriages, in my circle of concern, where even educated people end up blaming the woman and after multiple marriages when it begins to get more clear, would still never accept it. Great work Maria, look forward to more great work coming in! Sidra

Dear Maria, Congratulations on producing such a wonderful short documentary. It is impressive. I used to work in Zanada Hospital in Peshawar before moving to Canada. Thanks for raising social consciousness. Keep up the good work. We have produced a number of documentaries on social and mental health issues that you might like to see on my website www.drsohail.com

Sincerely, Khalid Sohail welcome@drsohail.com
