In the times of inflation, when rupee is losing its value against the dollar and prices are constantly rising, Gallery 6 has announced a “moving out sale” for art lovers of the capital. This was stated in a press release issued by the gallery here on Friday.

In operation since 2008, the success of the gallery has built a demand for a larger space.

Hence the decision was taken to move it to a bigger facility. While discussing this, the curator of the gallery, Dr Arjumand Faisel, said, “We believe that 2012 will be the year of change for Pakistan and began the year with the announcement of our move.”

The “moving out sale” begins at 11am, Saturday (today). More than 300 artworks including paintings, prints and sculptures by 50 Pakistani and foreign artists are on sale.

These include landscapes, figurative work, calligraphies, miniature paintings, abstracts, pen and ink compositions, giclee and other prints, sculptures in wood, fibre glass, stone and metal wire.

Most pieces are being discounted by 20 to 30%, while some are being offered at 50% off. The announcement started drawing art fans even before the start of sale to search and book their choices, the press release said.

A visitor said, “I am thrilled at this offer, as there is so much variety and substantial discounts; I am having difficulty choosing.” The sale will continue till January 15 from 11am to 7pm, including Sundays.
