Accident: Constable nabbed for injuring SHO

The driver picked and dropped Police Lines hospital staff

ISLAMABAD: Police constable Fasihullah, who was driving a van which hit and injured the Shahzad Town police SHO, was taken into custody on Tuesday, police said.  The driver picked and dropped Police Lines hospital staff and on Monday was returning after dropping a lady doctor in Fazaia Colony. While near Faizabad Flyover, some protesters threw a barrier at the van, smashing its windshield. As a result, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which jumped over a greenbelt and hit Inspector Munawar Ali Mehr. The inspector suffered multiple injuries. A protester was also injured in the accident. Later the SHO was shifted to a hospital, where he remains unconscious. The driver managed to escape from the scene, leaving behind the van which was later torched. He was shifted to the Industrial Area Police Station after being arrested.
