LAHORE:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) supporters and leaders held a candle-light vigil at Liberty Roundabout on Sunday evening in memory of Benazir Bhutto, the twice former prime minister assassinated four years ago.

Faiza Malik, Haji Azizur Rehman Chan, Zakaria Butt and Munir Qureshi attended the vigil.

Talking to reporters, Chan said that the PPP had fought hard for democracy, losing its founder, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and “his bold and brave daughter” for their cause.

Malik said that Javed Hashmi joining Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) was not the same as Shah Mehmood Qureshi joining the PTI. The latter joined the PTI because he was not given a ministry, while the former joined because he was being ignored by his party leadership.
