Balochistan: Shipbuilding industry on the cards

Raisani has said that establishment of a shipbuilding and repair industry in the province would help develop the area

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani has said that establishment of a shipbuilding and repair industry in the province would help develop the area, improve the condition of fishermen and provide employment. He was speaking in a meeting of a committee formed for the development of shipbuilding industry on Friday. The meeting was briefed about the project, which is a joint venture between Sindh and Balochistan governments. Balochistan has earmarked 1,500 acres of land for the project in Ormara. The chief minister said that the establishment of the shipbuilding and repair industry would lead to revolutionary development in the fishery sector while avenues of employment would also be opened. He also called for training of young people and said maximum people would benefit from the industry. The first phase will include repair of ships and building of new ships, said Raisani.
