Killing spree continues in Karachi

Published: July 25, 2010

Citizens of Karachi are in a state of panic as the situation in the city  remained tense late Saturday night. The death toll from target killings rose to 16 in the last 24 hours, despite heavy deployment of police and rangers.

So far, 38 people have lost their lives in the recent wave of target killings which began on Tuesday last week. Areas most affected by target killings are Shah Faisal Town, Sarjani Town, Pehlwan Goth, Malir and Gulistan-e-Johar.

So far, no arrests have been made in this regard, however, both the MQM and ANP have blamed each other for the rising tide of violence. In a damage control move, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that no operation will be conducted against any political party.

We the Citizens of Karachi, we want PEACE. Both the parties MQM and ANP are destroying the country by damaging cities own property, killing our own citizens, and fighting with our own people just like small children. Both the parties are the culprits of all the crimes and all the incidents that are happening here in Karachi. Everybody knows this but no body wants to stop these criminals even the Police and the Rangers. The Educated people of Karachi do not understand how and when this “Jahalat” is going to stop??Recommend

It is time both MQM and ANP understand that there is a third force – These forces are trying to create a stir and is not interested in Holding Local Bodies Election and somehow will blame the conditions as not right to hold them soon.

The people of Karachi shud unite and Mohallah commities should be formed and these committees should directly report these elements in their areas to the cell/rangers or whoever empowered, which the Govt., should immediately form, which immediately acts. -Recommend

MQM worker have been burning the properties of common Pushtoon people (shops, buses and even the fruit vendors cart). You can see even in these pictures that only specific shops, buses and businesses are burned by MQM.

What if the ANP start doing the same with every Muhajir in karachi>????????????

The issue of Land Mafia is infact just a propaganda by MQM to stop the migration of pushtoon to Karachi and in future being a bigger force beside the MQM in karachi both politically and socially.

By continuing such sort of politics in Karachi the MQM should forget becoming a national party but remain a local party in sindh.Recommend

Idiots are those who kill there own national brothers, thereby serving the interests of the outsiders. All of them should rot with shame. ANP should stop land grabbing, and MQM should stop the dadageer attitude. I wonder if we actually have any governance in the country. The police thinks that they are really powerful given the foul attitude they have towards crime in the city, but they dont understand that they will be first ones to be depleted, if and when this nation ever wakes up.Recommend

I do not agree with the commentators above who put blame on MQM for unrest in Karachi one or the other way.

The fact is that immigrants from India have remained a target of nefarious motives against them by criminals since long, following are a few examples:-

Demise of merit, deliberate ignorance of skill development, provision of equal opportunity of education & job openings for all.
Absence of just distribution of resources.
Promotion of corruption with full support of those in power
Delayed or total absence of justice for the needy.
Utter disregard & deliberate eyes wide shut from law enforcement.
In recent past, a planned & well organized encircling of Karachi by the criminals, land grabbing, even unlawful occupation of property of the weak.
This is not all, there are many more other reasons for this unrest.
MQM, is a threat to injustices & is fighting against the odds, instead, they represent to all with out any discrimination to those who suffer at the hands of criminals.Recommend

    @Muhammad Anjum,

Are you giving all those reasons to justify the killings of common Pashtoon who are mostly the innocent business owners/shop keepers/Bus-driver/labor.(Why don’t you accept that the MQM is just stopping the influx of other ethinicities into Karachi)

    What a shame????????????????Recommend

nothing justifies killing someone. Our Police and Govt are corrupt so the fear of law is missing. The pic above shows a car burnt in front of Marriot hotel which leads to the U.S. Consulate which happens to be a high security area where buses, trucks, vans, big cars other than the rich men’s Pajero’s and Prado’s arent allowed. So my question is where were those Police men when it happened?Recommend

So sad and feeling shame after reading all this. When Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) send to earth the same kind of situation which is currently we are going through. The people of that time think we are powerful and great. Killing each other doing all kind of sins for power, fame, money and not following Allah command. Muhammad (PBUH) was the last Prophet and there is no other Prophet will come anymore.

I am in depression and thinking who will guide us now. We called us Muslims but actions are not Muslims. Where we are going. Allah forgive our sins and guide us.

Country is in deep trouble by Western interference, Suicide bombers, Corrupt politicians and internal riots.Recommend
