KARACHI:

A former unit in-charge of the Sunni Tehreek (ST), Adil Hashim, 35, was gunned down in Jodia Bazaar on Sunday. The police believe that the murder took place over a personal enmity.

Hashim was shot thrice near his house and he died on the spot. His body was taken to Civil hospital and was later handed over to the family.

According to SHO Ejaz Khokhar, Hashim was shot shortly after he left his house and reached the corner of the street while talking on the phone. He said that the police suspect that the person who made the call was behind the murder.

Hashim’s brother Shoaib nominated five men - Imran, Mansoor, Faizan and Hamid - in the FIR, which suggests that a personal enmity was involved, said the DSP.

He said that Shoaib did not tell the police if the suspects he nominated were affiliated with any political party.

The Sunni Tehreek’s Shahid Ghauri said that the attackers had also set fire to Hashim’s house a couple of days back.

Ghauri demanded that they be arrested.
