MIRPUR: Contractual IT teachers, serving in state-run educational institutions of AJK, continued their protest on Wednesday, threatening to launch mass street demonstration on December 20 if their demands were not met.

The protestors urged the AJK government for early acceptance of their long-standing demands including regularisation of services and release of salaries, which have been blocked for the past six months.

Spokesperson for the IT Teachers Action Committee Mohsin Yousaf told APP that the future of at least 526 teachers working on contract basis in the public-sector schools was at stake. Mohsin said if the demands were not met by December 19, the teachers will boycott their duties and stage a sit-in at Shaheed Chowk the next day.
