ISLAMABAD: In recognition of his efforts in building consensus on contentious issues in the parliament, the Awami National Party (ANP) on Wednesday presented Senator Raza Rabbani of Pakistan Peoples Party with Bacha Khan Award. Rabbani was the chair of the parliamentary committee on constitutional amendment that proposed the 18th Constitutional Amendment and he remained instrumental in getting it passed by the parliament to become a part of the constitution. The amendment brought major changes towards transfer of certain powers from federal to the provincial governments. “It was decided by the Central Executive Committee of the party to officially recognize Rabbani’s efforts in realizing the historic 18th Amendment,” said Bushra Gohar, member National Assembly ANP. ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan presented the Bacha Khan shield along with a traditional Charsadda chaddar (shawl), Chitrali topi (cap) and other traditional souvenirs to Rabbani.
