LHC adjourns hearing of the Data Darbar case

The LHC chief justice adjourned the hearing of the twin suicide attacks at the Data Darbar till August 6.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) chief justice adjourned the hearing of the twin suicide attacks at the shrine of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh until August 6.

SP (Investigation) Ijaz Shafi Dogar, submitted a written report on behalf of the CCPO. He had informed the chief justice that the DNA test report of the remains and parts of bodies collected from the attack site will be completed within six to eight weeks.

He also said that the police had some leads about the terrorists involved in the attacks but could not disclose any information at this stage of the investigation.

The additional advocate general, Hanif Khatana, informed the court that progress had been made in the case and that the culprits would be arrested soon.

CCPO, Aslam Tareen had informed the court during the last hearing that the ISI, MI and Special Branch had been requested to help the police in the investigation.

He said the Home Department had also formed an investigation team including the DIG investigation, the SSP investigation and representatives of the ISI, the MI and the Special Branch.

The DG (National Crisis Management Cell) was requested for provision of technical assistance through NADRA including verification of finger prints and identification finalisation of the case, the CCPO added.

The chief justice had taken suo motu notice of the twin bombings that killed around 30 people on July 1.
