Fighting Corruption: NAB organises seminar

KARACHI: Corruption thrives in every institution of the country and the ones set up to curb it have failed to gauge the magnitude of the problem, said speakers at a seminar, organised by the National Accountability Bureau, on Friday. The seminar was titled “Good governance and curbing corruption” and was held to mark World Anti-Corruption Day. The dean of the faculty of law at the Federal Urdu University of Science and Technology, Justice (retd) Dr Muhammad Ghous, said that corruption hampers good governance. He regretted that it has become a part of everyday life of an individual, be it banking, an educational institution or any other public service organisation. “All departments have become morally sick,” he added. The adviser of Transparency International Pakistan, Adil Gillani, said that Pervez Musharraf paved the way for corruption by introducing the NRO only after 37 days of ratifying the UN convention against corruption.
