KARACHI:

Pir Pagara has been admitted to Aga Khan Hospital and President Asif Ali Zardari has directed party workers to pray for his health and early recovery.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional leader’s residence Kingri House said that the Pir, who is also the spiritual leader of the Hur Jamaat, is recovering fast. “Pir sahib is suffering from a pleural effusion (a build-up of fluid between the layers of tissues that line the lungs and chest cavity) and has pain in his joints,” he said. “But he will come back home soon.” The spokesman was of the view that it was a routine medical check-up. During a press conference on his 83rd birthday recently, Pir Pagara had told the media that he would go on one week’s leave. To a question of why, he responded, “I will go to Nurse Land,” while referring to the hospital.

While he was admitted, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan all paid him a visit.
