QUETTA:

Two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed while two others sustained injuries in a landmine explosion near Sui, in the Bugti Tribal area on Saturday.

A Frontier Corps vehicle was on routine patrol in Janu Berri area when it hit a landmine planted by unidentified persons, an official said. As a result of the explosion, two FC men died on the spot, while two others sustained splinter wounds. The vehicle, meanwhile, was completely destroyed in the blast.

A heavy contingent of paramilitary troops arrived at the crime scene after the explosion and cordoned off the area. They moved the deceased and the injured to a nearby government hospital, where the wounded were said to be in critical condition.

The deceased were identified as Lance Naik Kizar Hayat and Hawaldar Abdul Zaman. “Two FC personnel were killed and two others sustained injuries in a landmine blast,” a senior official confirmed.

Security forces have launched a manhunt in the area. No claims of responsibility were made for Saturday’s attack.
