KARACHI:

A delegation from the Mumbai Press Club visited the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs (PIIA) on Thursday.

They discussed the historically antagonistic ties between the two countries and the need for a dialogue process to resolve outstanding contentious issues. The leader of the delegation, Jetin Desai, said that the issue of the arrest of fishermen along the maritime boundary between the two countries should be resolved.

Another Indian journalist said that if India and Pakistan cannot resolve the Kashmir issue, then the Kashmiri people should be allowed to decide their fate for themselves. Some PIIA members stressed the need for the visiting journalists to project the ground realities in Pakistan, so that the citizens of both countries could better understand each other.

They also said that the opening of a rail route between Khokarapar in Sindh and Monabao in Rajasthan will help facilitate passengers wanting to cross the border and boost the trade between the two countries.
