SUKKUR:

After they realised the men were not there, a police team proceeded to set fire to seven houses of the suspects wanted for killing three Hindus on the first day of Eid.

Shikarpur SSP Junaid Ahmed Shaikh told The Express Tribune that they raided Bachal Bhayo and Azeem Bhayo villages to look for Qazi Ghulam Mohammad but when they didn’t find him they set the houses on fire.

Qazi Ghulam is one of the 11 men named in the FIR registered by Suresh Kumar, the brother of one of the victims. SSP Shaikh said that the raids would continue till the absconding men are rounded up. Seven of the 11 men are already behind bars.

SSP Shaikh is back in the saddle after being suspended immediately following the incident. The home minister transferred him, ostensibly because the police who were meant to be guarding the Hindus had disappeared at the time of the attack. Shaikh was replaced by Asad Raza Shah. But the orders were recently withdrawn.

The triple murder was the outcome of a romance between a Bhayo girl and a Hindu boy in Sitampur Mohalla in Chak, a hamlet located north of Sukkur. Seema Bhayo and Sandeep are still missing.

Colonial style set-up has not and will not deliver. What's the difference between the rural police of Pakistan and that of the British colony? No offense to the laymen policeman, it's the system that needs changing.

Perhaps this is the only language these terrorist understand. You can Run but you cannot have a place to hide. Terrorist, killers, murders have no rights nor a place in civil society. If you do it for the right cause then you have done the right thing
