FAISALABAD:

Eight police officials including a police post in-charge were booked on charges of misbehaving with a group of women in the Sitiana police station limits on Tuesday.

According to officials, a police party consisting of officials headed by Rodala Road in-charge Naeem Adil forced entry into the house of a farmer, Jahangir, in Chak 282-GB and maltreated several women on the pretext of arresting some criminals.

Resident Jahangir moved a complaint before the Sitiana police station regarding the incident but the police did not take any action. Finally, Jahangir filed a petition before the Jaranwala additional session judge who ordered for the registration of a case against the accused. A case was registered against 8 police officials including Adil for harassing five women of a house where they had broken in to ‘arrest thieves’. Jahangir said that a police team broke into his house and harassed his mother, wife and sisters on the pretext of arresting a gang of robbers. “I was the only one at home and they eventually didn’t arrest anyone,” Jahangir said.
