Lal Shahbaz Qalandar: President orders swift repair of Sehwan shrine

President says construction should be completed in a transparent manner by January 30, 2012.

KARACHI:

President Asif Ali Zardari has called for the speedy completion of the renovation work at the Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine in Sehwan Sharif.

During a meeting at Bilawal House on Saturday, the president said that the construction work should be completed in a transparent manner by January 30 of the coming year. He also expressed concern over the pollution around the shrine and the delays in the construction work. The president asked the federal and the provincial governments to ensure the necessary funds are sent.

He emphasised the need to preserve cultural monuments for researchers and those eager to explore cultural heritage and Sufism

During a previous meeting, it was decided that both the federal and the provincial governments would share the cost of the restoration work on the dome and dhammal court.
