Gang Rape: Woman assaulted by former councillor

BAHAWALPUR:

A woman was allegedly gang raped by a former councillor and his friends last week.

According to the police, Bahawalpur resident Humera was sleeping in her house with her children when the accused broke in and tied her up in the next room. Humera told police officials that she cried out for help and some of her neighbours came to her aid but by then the accused had fled the scene. Meanwhile, Investigation Officer Sub Inspector Iqbal said that police had already arrested accused Arif and that a team was searching for his two accomplices. DNA samples have been to the Multan Lab for a rape kit and police said that a case would be registered against the accused once they received the results.
