HONG KONG: Blistering half-centuries by Abdul Razzaq and Sohail Tanvir guided Pakistan to a 35-run victory over England as the team was crowned champions of the Hong Kong Sixes.

Captain Razzaq smashed 63 not out off 17 deliveries, while the left-handed Tanvir hit a 14-ball 58, as Pakistan set an imposing target of 155.

It was too much for England who regularly lost wickets before being bowled out with two balls left in the final eight-ball over, sparking jubilation among most of the 4,500-strong crowd at the Kowloon Cricket Club.

The victory saw Pakistan draw level with England as the team with the most number of title wins at the big-hitting event — each on five. But Pakistan warned they will be back for more.

“We are delighted to have matched England with five wins apiece, but we want to make it six next year,” said Razzaq who was named man of the match.

“It was a superb batting display,” conceded England captain Rory Hamilton-Brown. “We were up against some world-class players and getting to the final itself was creditable for us.”

Pakistan had looked in good nick for the event and even outshone the All Star team boasting countryman Shahid Afridi and Sri Lanka legend Sanath Jayasuriya.

The All Stars bowed out in the quarter-finals, failing to defend a sizeable total of 118 against Sri Lanka who made it home in the very last delivery.

Player-of-the-tournament went to Pakistan’s Umar Akmal who aggregated 197 runs and set the event alight with his fierce batting.

Pakistan is a team with immense capability. And it has good future in cricket. However, recent scandals have outraged cricket fans around the globe. If the team keeps their spirits high and work hard in all that comes, Pakistan will receive applause from the cricket world and be very well appreciated.

Pakistan showed megnificient performence in this tournament. As they lost their game with Hong kong but they recover very well and showed great performance to have all the games. Specially they played very bravely in the final specially Abdul razzaq. Then England stranded on 120. I think Pakistan should forget their crises and always keep trust on Almighty Allah and they will show great performance in future. I vote for green shirts. Insha Allah they will always win.

When are we going to see Ahmed Shahzad and Abdul Razzaq back in the team? It is pathetic that they are not even in the list of probables. Sohail Tanveer should focus on batting and should try as a batsman, as he has no chance in the team as a bowler.
