Energy Needs: Iran electricity offer under review

Minister for Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain said on Wednesday that Iran has made an offer to Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain said on Wednesday that Iran has made an offer to Pakistan to fulfill the country’s energy requirements and the government is reviewing the proposal with the assistance of the Ministry of Water and Power. Hussain said that Iran offered Pakistan 1000 megawatts (MW) of electricity to cope with the energy crisis. He said Pakistan is making efforts to meet its energy requirements of gas and electricity through different sources, adding that if Pakistan imports electricity from Iran, its cost will be more affordable.
