Nawaz Sharif backs creation of new provinces

KARACHI / DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif said that he is in favour of formation of new provinces of Bahawalpur and Southern Punjab.

He said this while addressing a gathering in Dera Ghazi Khan (DGK) on Wednesday.

The PML-N leader said that officials at the highest echelons are involved in corruption and that he needed a change in the country.

He also said that the government of Pakistan has failed to defend the sovereignty of the state and its people. He added that the response after the May 2 raid in Abbottabad is a victory on the United States’ part.

Sharif asserted that the current government is the “most corrupt” in the history of Pakistan and said that he would leave politics if the people want him to leave and he is only in the politics for the people of Pakistan.

He added that he wants to change the fate of Pakistan and its people and has decided to face every difficulty coming his way.

Earlier, residents of Southern Punjab had blamed PML-N of forcefully using the government’s sources to arrange gathering in DGK.

More criticism from Sharif: ‘Govt is a total failure’

Nawaz Sharif lashed out at the government again during a press conference in Sakrand on Wednesday.

Sharif said it is the policies of the present regime that has led to the collapse of state institutions.

Addressing the press conference in interior Sindh, Sharif accused the government of being “a total failure”.

The PML-N claimed that nothing has been done for the betterment of flood affected people in Sindh.

Sharif also accused the government of corruption saying he does not believe the present administration would take any credible measure to stop corruption, since it is being run by the president himself.

Sharif said the president’s main focus has been on saving the government rather than the country.

He also asked for the implementation of the agreements that the country political parties had come up with in the All Parties Conference.

‘Politics of terrorism creation of MQM’

Nawaz Sharif also alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had introduced politics of terrorism in Pakistan and that it was involved in disturbing peace in Karachi.

“The politics of terrorism in Pakistan started with creation of MQM, which also is involved in disturbing peace in Karachi,” Mian Nawaz Sharif said in an interview to a TV channel.

“MQM should now make it clear whether it wants clean politics or terrorism through their armed wings.”

PML-N hatching conspiracy against democracy: Memon

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has alleged that the PML-N chief and his associates are hatching conspiracies against democracy.

Memon said Sharif doesn’t want Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to win a majority in next year’s Senate elections, which is the reason behind the baseless allegations against the government.

He also accused the Sharif brothers of trying to influence Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) parliamentarians to lure them to their party.

Memon termed this move as against the principles of the Charter of Democracy.

There is no doubt in it. The urban centers of Sindh are at the mercy of terrorists and extortionists and rural cities are under ‘Dako’. The only hope goes towards a strong alliance between the people of Sindh and PMLN. The nationalist and progressive forces of Sindh should also come forward to take Sindh out of this burgeoning crisis. The 13 year long power have turned Sindh into “Somalia”.There seems no viable policy to improve the life of people in Sindh.Recommend

Nawaz Sharif’s day can not be completed unless he recites MQM name 100 times before media. I believe Mr. Sharif forgot his five meetings with Osama Bin Laden back in 90′s and collecting $10 million from OBL to overthrow PPP government during BB first term.

These allegations by Mr. Nawaz Sharif against MQM is nothing new for the workers, supporters and voters of MQM. What else you could expect from the feudal mentality in Pakistan against MQM which is the only political party from the educated and middle class background in Pakistan.
State terrorism was imposed by Nawaz Sharif & company on 19th June 1992 when his government launched an army operation against the innocent citizens of Karachi and killed thousands of people.
I think Nawaz Sharif did not learn any lesson from the events of 12th October 1999 and now again he is part of conspiracy to de-rail democracy in Pakistan.

You are ruling 62% of Pakistan where due to bad governance the province has been plunged through sasti roti, pili taxi and other similar fraud schemes. Can you start from punjab to clean up mess created by your brother there. Do not fool people – no one is ready to be fooled this time. Nawaz Sharif should concentrate on Punjab & his party’s performance first, prior to raising any allegations on the political parties. MQM was never involved in any sort of voilence or terrorism – however, Nawaz Sharif initiated an unlawful operation against MQM back in 90′s when thousands of innocent Karachiites were extra-judicially executed. I believe everyone ought to respect the mandate given to MQM time and again – Had MQM been involved in violence, 99% of well-educated Karachiites and 40% of rest of the Sindh wouldn’t have voted for MQM.

Take law & order, According to Govt own reports there were just 700 cases of kidnaping for ransome in 2008, which has increased to a staggering 13000 in 2001. I would not say anything about health, everybody know about recent dengue crisis. Shahbaz shareef is running 8 ministeries including health & interior. If Nawaz Sharif had stuck to some legitimate proposals on why the new provinces should be created and how they will benefit people, it would be more interesting. I am not a MQM supporter but the attacks by Sharif and Mirza against MQM seem heavily ethnically motivated. We need to get away from voting based on where we’re from in Pakistan.

In the seventies when the nation voted for Mujib and Bhutto the Mohajirs voted for Jamaat-E- Islami, JUI and JUP. In the eighties when the nation voted for PML the Mohajirs voted for MQM. In the nineties when the nation voted for PPP, the Mohajirs voted for MQM. And the story goes on.

Political parties will keep on fighting with each other in Pakistan till the last day of the world.

The so called political leaders have been exploiting the masses to come and remain in power, whereas a common man in the country is waiting to get the clean drinking water for the last 64 years, what to talk of other basic facilities that are guaranteed for a common man in the Constitution of Pakistan.

Each and every politician is selfish, incompetent and corrupt.

The irony of life in Pakistan is:

Most of the ‘First Class’ students get technical seats, some become Doctors and the rest becomes Engineers.

The ‘Second Class’ pass, and then get MBA, become Administrators and control the ‘First Class’.

The ‘Third Class’ pass, enter politics and become Ministers and control the both.

Last, but no the least, the ‘Failures’ join the under-world and control all the above.

And those who do not attend any school become Swamis and Guru/Malangs and every one follow them.

I leave the matter on the valued readers of these columns to determine as to whom they want to trust.

I do not find him the serious leader. If he were a serious leader, he would not hatch the statements which oppose the soul of democracy. I admit that this is traditional democratic system which we have, but at least we are not under any dictatorship. Media, comparing to the last decades, have freedom of expression and censorship is criticized.

This government has faced many challenging tasks. I would like all of you to visit the areas and flood affected areas yourself. You will get the picture.

Nawaz Sharif was not eligible to contest elections and be PM for the third time. However, thanks to PPP and his friendly opposition, he is eligible again after the 18th amendment. One more interesting question, if Nawaz is so interested in politics and “serving” the people why did he not contest the last elections with his party? Even after his party won in Punjab, Nawaz had amply chances to contest on National or Provincial assembly seats vacated by several leaders like Hashmi. The truth is his “pardon” agreement with Mush barred him not to contest elections for 10 years. Nawaz would not care about that agreement but it was via Saudi royal family and they guaranteed that he would stay away from politics for a decade!
Sharifs cannot have it both ways. They rule more than 60% of Pakistan and keep talking about corrupt governance. When would they grow up and take any responsibility? All their corruption cases have been swept under the rug with the help of “independent” judiciary, even though each and every member of their extended family has cases pending against them for corruption. Their dynastic way of ruling is the biggest threat to democracy in Pakistan.
