RAWALPINDI: The association of Rawalpindi private schools will file a petition in the high court challenging the annual results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) part-1 announced in August. They claim a large number of results had been dubious, it has been learnt. The association blamed the errors on the online automated registration system of the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE).

All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association Rawalpindi chapter President Abrar Ahmed Khan said they would approach the high court, seeking to put an end to the online system initiated last year.

The private school and regular students, who appeared in the SSC-1 (class-IX) examination conducted by RBISE in March, had been facing problems in getting their faulty results corrected.

The first time when the results were announced, only 19 per cent of total students were declared successful. However, later during correction process 8,000 more got through the exam. Still an overwhelming majority felt uneasy about their results, said Khan.

“We met the newly-appointed chairman of the BISE and he ensured that he had initiated corrective measures.

But we are not satisfied with the steps taken by
the board, as they have not yet published the result gazette. We will approach the Lahore High Court for an end to the online system,” Abrar said.

An official of the board told The Express Tribune that the BISE administration had still been waiting for the ward list of numerous students and their results could be corrected only after receiving the confirmed results from the examiners.

On the other hand, the employees of the BISE had already announced to carry out protest against the unified online system, as the registrations and admissions through internet caused the problem for all eight boards across the country.

When contacted, BISE Chairman Dr Muhammad Qasim said he had directed the concerned office of the board to give him details of the problems faced in the class-IX results.

The chairman said, though the examination was conducted before he joined the RBISE, but he would strive to correct any existing faults.
