KARACHI: Lawyers’ Forum’s counsel AK Dogar on Monday argued that judges should be appointed for life to ensure a free judiciary.
During the Supreme Court’s hearing of petitions against the 18th amendment, Dogar said that free judiciary does not come under the executive as in the parliamentary system both the institutions are separate.
Separately, Watan Party’s chief Barrister Zafarullah Khan supported the formation of a judicial commission for judges’ appointments. However, he rejected the idea of a parliamentary committee’s role in the process.
The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of till Tuesday.
